Khan looked at me with an unusual smile and said, “Go for it.”

I had to admit, this was about as nervous as I had ever been when reading a man's true intentions. Khan could have some sick thoughts and I would see quickly how evil he was. Or he could be the type of kid I thought he was.

I looked Khan in his eyes and stepped right in front of him. I cupped his face with both my hands and immediately saw visions of Khan fighting multiple men to victory. I focused on Khan's hate and couldn't see anything. I focused on his revenge and it was a blank. Lastly, I focused on his future and I saw him battling side by side with me in future battles. This kid was legit.

I opened my eyes and smiled at Khan. “We have rules, but you are allowed to leave any time you want. This is where we say goodbye, or not. But I will ask you one time. It will be your choice and your choice alone.”

  Khan nodded.

“Is your own private personal dilemma over now that the same man who killed your father, saved your life.”

Khan nodded again. “It is only a personal crisis if I allow it to be. And I have forgiven everything and choose to move forward.”

I looked over at Khan and he physically seemed in bad shape. He kept holding the left side of his stomach.

  “What's wrong with your side?”

“I think I have a few broken ribs.” Khan gasped when rubbed the area.

I reached out my hand and touched the side of his body where his ribs were broken. I pressed my hand into him and asked the Triat to heal him. This would be a great move to show my trust if I was to not only save him but also heal his injuries.

Khan ran his hands over his ribs and twisted at the hips to show he was completely healed. “Wow, how did you do that?”

“Thank the Triat. I wanted to heal you, but I can only do it if they allow it.”

Khan seemed very impressed with his newly strengthened body.

“How did you live before this?” I asked Khan.

“I have roamed the earth a loner since I was sixteen. I was turned when I was eighteen and have been living alone. My family was outcast by the Mani community.”

“I had nothing to do with that,” I said. “The Mani are a stubborn, fierce vampire sect. They all live by their own decree. Which is usually kill or be killed.”

“What's your decree?” Khan asked me.

I paused and looked at Khan. “Loyalty. Loyalty and honor are the two decrees I live by and expect my crew to live by.”

  Khan smiled and nodded.

“You ready to go to our secret hideaway? We can buy you some clothes in town, but most of us are your size and I'm sure no one will mind sharing with you until you can get some of your own.”

  “I'm in.” Khan said.

I transitioned into the great white eagle and carried my son in his vampire form. Khan flew along with us in his raven form the rest of the way home.

Was this the end or just the beginning? I don't know, but what I do know, I have a crew that is loyal and trustworthy. Not to mention each one can kick some serious ass.

I knew Joshua and I were going to have to fix our problems, but I hoped tonight was the end of his death match fighting career.

When we landed at the ranch. We all went into the living room. I decided to sit everyone down and explain to them why I decided to have Khan join us. I felt that in order for us to trust one another, everybody's voice needed to be heard.

I had everyone sit down and I introduced Khan to the group as if they didn't know who he was. I introduced him as a brother and friend in our fight to stay alive.

I assured everyone he had passed my head test. That seemed to make everyone feel a little more at ease.

“With Khan, we are ten strong. We are possibly the ten toughest individuals ever put together in the paranormal world. I'm proud to be here with you guys and as we fight on and try to figure out what our next step is. One thing is for sure. We have each other.”

I looked over at Yari and smiled. She had her pick of the litter with the new guys. I was pretty sure, Todd, Hunter or Khan would be very interested in Yari. She has been a loyal friend and was there for me in the very beginning before I even knew who the hell I was. I would always be grateful for her friendship.

That said, I think Hunter was the best choice. Just saying.
